Connect Centre Acquisition Marks Major Milestone in Indigenous-Led Investment

The Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory has completed the acquisition of Connect Centre in Edmonton’s ICE District, marking one of the most significant Indigenous-led commercial real estate investments in Alberta in recent years.

Located in the heart of downtown Edmonton adjacent to Rogers Place and ICE District Plaza, Connect Centre is a flagship mixed-use commercial property spanning an entire city block and serving as a central destination within the district’s retail, hospitality, and entertainment ecosystem.

The property includes more than 113,000 square feet of grocery-anchored retail space, structured parking, and stratified air rights that support additional density. The next phase will build on this foundation with approximately 330,000 square feet of purpose-built residential space, comprising 371 suites across 34 storeys and further contributing to the continued intensification of the ICE District.

Integro Investments is honoured to serve as joint-venture partner in the transaction, working alongside the Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory’s leadership, legal teams, and commercial partners to bring the acquisition to completion and advance the next phase of development and asset management.

“This is a historic acquisition for the Indigenous community and the City of Edmonton,” said Darren Durstling, President of Integro Investments. “I’ve spent my career building better communities through high-quality developments, but this investment is truly unique. An acquisition like this drives economic development for Edmonton, Alberta, Indigenous leadership, and is a strong indicator of the bright future ahead.”

For Integro, this investment reflects the type of opportunity the platform was built to support: thoughtful partnerships, active involvement, and projects that create long—term economic value and community benefit.

This milestone also represents the growing role Indigenous communities continue to play in shaping investment, development, and economic opportunity across Canada, creating benefits that extend across generations.
